Severe Flooding Disrupts New York Metro and Airport Services – Latest Updates on US East Coast Weather

In the northeast of the United States, very heavy rains partially flooded the metro network of the megacity and Brooklyn: “We continue to evacuate water from the tracks caused by flooding at several stations in Brooklyn and Manhattan”, explained on X the official account of the New York subway. La Guardia Airport announced, for its part, that all access to Terminal A was “currently closed”.

According to the US weather service, the bad weather is caused by a depression along the US East Coast, which draws moist air from the ocean, “producing areas of heavy rain over northern and eastern regions”.

In September 2021, Hurricane Ida caused the deaths of thirteen people (and several dozen others in the region).
