Fortnite Update 2024: Motion, Visibility, and Weapon Improvements

Since the cosmic explosion, we’ve made some improvements for Fortnite – Fortnite Battle Royale, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival, today’s update focuses on key areas we want to address before our next update planned for early 2024.

Motion improvements

Movement speed increased when crouching or running. We also slowed down the camera movement and adjusted the point of view change when running fast to promote a smoother experience. Additionally, we’ve updated the motion animations to better accommodate speed adjustments.

To help you adapt to these updates, we’ve reset tilt customization settings for everyone, so please sign in and reconfigure your settings to your preference.

Possibility of reading medals

Elite Medal icons now appear more clearly on the map and will be easier to spot immediately. We also reduced visual noise in the minimap when multiple medallion areas are adjacent, especially in later storm circles.

Night vision and storm vision

We lit up certain areas of the map that were getting darker at night. Visibility of the edge of the storm has improved and awareness of how close it is becomes clearer, after we communicated from the community that seeing it can be difficult.

Weapon icons

We are aware of comments that the icons for the Madness Shozen and Thunder LMG are small, making it difficult to distinguish between them. We updated these icons to be more legible and distinct.

Most recent budget changes

Last week saw many balancing changes for Battle Royale. Here’s the summary!

  • Flux Berry now grants more armor.
  • The damage of the Adventurer’s Pistol, Armor Breaker Pulse Grenade, and Projectile Shield Pistol has been increased.
  • Snowball launcher ammo magazine size reduced.
  • The Thunder LPG ammunition magazine has increased in size.
  • Reaper Sniper Rifle drop rate decreased.
  • The Assault Rifle deals less damage.
  • The circle indicating an elite medal holder has become smaller.
  • Elite Medals now take a brief delay before armor regeneration begins. They also reduced renewal rates slightly and did not
  • The shield refills at 100% (unless you get all 5).

LEGO FORTNITE

hungry? More satisfying meals!
We noticed that food in LEGO Fortnite wasn’t making us feel much less hungry, so we made adjustments to make meals more filling!

Filtering during cave clubbing

We fixed a bug that could cause you to lose items after being eliminated while moving between the surface and the interior of the Earth. Thanks for your patience while we addressed the issue, we understand that losing your items was frustrating (we were losing ours too!).

Last week saw the following changes before today’s update:

Durability

Durability of non-rare/non-epic tools and weapons increased by 30%. As for rare/epic tools and weapons, their durability has been increased by 60%!

Harm

  • The monster poison area damage for all three monsters has been reduced.
  • Frost Scorpion Burst damage decreased.

Creature changes

  • Sand Scorpions, Cave Scorpions, Common Scorpions, Beach Edge Crab, Sand Spiders, and Alpine Frost Spiders are now slightly easier to defeat.
  • Rams now give heavy wool.

Other modifications and improvements

  • The hooks now have 30 charges.
  • Jumping spiders won’t spook you as much as lifting rocks.

ROCKET RACING

Long waiting times
We’ve heard feedback that high-ranked racers are experiencing long wait times in Rocket Racing, and our team is working on regularly incremental improvements to help you get into your races faster. We will continue to monitor wait times and make adjustments as needed.

Car collision

Car collisions have been a major topic among gamers, especially when a rear impact causes your car to spin 180 degrees. Today’s update will make this crash a little less severe, and will help keep the car pointed at the finish line. We will continue to work on collision improvements in future updates as well.

Jackie costume mission

Ranking Gold in the Rocket Racing mission to unlock Jackie’s costume was giving players a reward for reaching Gold II instead of Gold I. We’ve adjusted this so racers who reach Gold I now only need to complete one full race to complete the mission and receive Jackie’s costume.

FORTNITE FESTIVAL

Lost songs library

We fixed a bug where players would see an empty song library in the main platform after stopping Fortnite on their device. This will also improve the pause that some players were experiencing before the song starts.

Disable full damage

Full damage has been disabled on the main stage backstage. Jump off all the balconies you want, rock stars!

Replay the song

We have temporarily disabled the “Song Replay” function (available for single players) while we fix a bug that was causing the game to stop responding.

Incorrect posting to leaderboards

We fixed an issue that could cause some results to be posted in the wrong leaderboard. We will continue to monitor (and perhaps review) the leaderboards going forward to ensure they are accurate.

This is just the beginning of the future of Fortnite, and we’re excited to continue improvements wherever possible. Thank you for sharing your feedback, we appreciate your passion!
