Libreville, Friday December 22, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The governments of the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding to this effect on December 19.
Gabon and Congo will soon be connected by an integrative project. The two neighbors aim to build a “cross-border dessert road” in the coming days. A memorandum of understanding was signed to this effect on December 19 in Kabala at their common border between the Gabonese Minister Delegate to the Presidency in charge of the Interior, Hermann Immongault, and his Congolese counterpart, Raymond Zéphirin Mboulou. This infrastructure will connect Ekata in the Zadié department, Ogooué-Ivindo province, to Bekongo in the Mbomo district, Olloba zone, Cuvette Ouest department in Congo.
The construction of this infrastructure will be carried out by Global Mine Development (GMD), a company under Gabonese law and will enable the Global Mine Development Company to carry out mining exploration and exploitation operations. “This road will also constitute a strategic axis for the economic, social and cultural development of our two countries by facilitating trade, migratory flows, tourism, scientific cooperation and environmental preservation”, underlines the official press release.
