This was announced by the French government and the prosecutor’s office in Paris, which launched an investigation. Two of the passengers on the flight from Dubai to Nicaragua have been detained, prosecutors in Paris said.
The landing was the result of an anonymous tip that the plane was carrying Indian passengers who were possibly victims of human trafficking, Paris prosecutors said. According to a source close to the matter, the plane stopped in France to refuel. Indian travelers traveled to Central America to try to enter the United States or Canada illegally.

An investigation is currently underway to see if there is evidence to support the suspicion of human trafficking as part of an organized crime group. Such a crime carries a 20-year sentence and a fine of 3 million euros, added the prosecutor’s office.
