FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The three vice presidential candidates (cawapres) have completed a series of debates for the 2024 presidential election held by the General Election Commission (KPU) at the JCC Building, Friday (22/12/2023). This is the second debate in a series of five presidential-vice presidential debates.
Vice presidential candidate number 3, Mahfud MD, said he followed all the rules and regulations set by the KPU. For example, regarding an agreed theme.
Mahfud emphasized this, responding to a question from vice presidential candidate number 2, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, regarding carbon capture. According to Mahfud, in the second debate specifically for vice presidential candidates, the theme of carbon capture is not relevant.
“Carbon capture is not relevant (to the debate theme), I just follow the rules,” said Mahfud, in a press conference after the debate.
According to Mahfud, carbon capture should be the fourth theme. So, he didn’t want to explore too many irrelevant questions, and continued to raise agreed themes.
“If it is reversed, he will be overwhelmed too,” said Mahfud.
Apart from that, Mahfud also highlighted Gibran who seemed to be provoking the audience. Gibran also broke the rules by leaving the podium.
“You can’t leave the podium, that’s the rule. If you can leave the podium, I will also dance in front. The KPU doesn’t take action against that,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) will again reprimand vice presidential candidate number 2, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Because, Gibran seemed to be provoking and inciting his supporters.
