Dirk van Duijvenbode was eliminated from the Darts World Cup in London on Friday. The South Hollander lost in the second round to the Croat Boris Krcmar: 1-3. Earlier in the day, the Dutch Swede Jeffrey de Graaf stunted against José de Sousa.
The 31-year-old Van Duijvenbode started his match against Krcmar strongly. With an average of 108.22 per three arrows and finishes of 124 and 87, he took the first set.
After that, Van Duijvenbode, who had a very difficult year, suffered from shoulder problems. His average in the second company was only 87.36 and he lost the set 0-3.
Even after that, Van Duijvenbode had little to say against Krcmar. ‘Aubergenius’ was harassed by a wasp at the beginning of the third set and only took one leg in the remainder of the game.
Van Duijvenbode has been suffering from a shoulder injury for a long time. He says he has already spent between 3,000 and 5,000 euros on treatments. The injury has made it impossible for him to throw properly for months.

De Graaf stunts against De Sousa
Earlier in the day, 33-year-old De Graaf pulled off a stunt against Portuguese De Sousa, sixteen years his senior: 3-1. The world number 164 lost the first set against De Sousa, but then gained steam. In the second act he struck in the decisive fifth leg and after that he gave his opponent only one more leg.
Officially, De Graaf only has Dutch nationality. But because he has lived in Sweden for five years, he comes under the Swedish flag. Thanks to his participation in the Nordic & Baltic Tour, he managed to qualify for the World Cup.
In the third round, De Graaf will face global number eight: Rob Cross. The Swede was too strong for Ritchie Edhouse in the opening round.
Later that day, two more Dutch people appear at the oche in Alexandra Palace. Jermaine Wattimena takes on the German Martin Schindler and Raymond van Barneveld plays against the Pole Radek Szaganski.
