The Governor’s greeting:

In his greeting, among others, the Regional Governor, Mr. Alexandros Kahrimanis, said:

I want to thank you for your honorable presence at today’s inauguration of the new Regional Council.

I welcome the new Regional Councilors and I hope that their tenure will be productive for the benefit of the citizens and of Epirus.

I want to especially thank the regional councilors of the outgoing Regional Council for the cooperation we have had over the years.

The self-governing period that ends today was a difficult period. On its way, there were unexpected and unforeseeable developments at the global level, which greatly affected the functioning of the Region and the Regional Council.

Despite this and despite any disagreements, the Region of Epirus as a whole – with the help of its employees – stood up and responded to the needs and challenges it faced.

Many of the difficulties and adversities remain, but we believe that the new self-governing period begins with better omens.

This makes us optimistic that with everyone’s cooperation, with persistence, patience and hard daily work, we will move forward in all areas that belong to the Region’s institutional responsibilities. At the same time, we will constantly push and look for solutions for more general issues concerning Epirus.

For us, the priority is the facilitation of citizens’ everyday life. Our concern is the immediate and effective treatment of any problem that may arise.

Our constant pursuit is the implementation of our planning for infrastructures that are needed for Epirus to move forward. For actions that will relieve our vulnerable fellow citizens, that will support businesses to create new jobs.

These goals, even with different approaches, are common and we are all called to serve them from the position assigned to us by the Epirotian people.

Thank you, happy birthday, happy new year and happy self-governing period.
