War Thunder players once again posted classified military documents on the game forum while discussing equipment.
This is far from uncommon – War Thunder players are known for posting secret papers in order to win arguments with other users or to argue with developer Gaijin Entertainment about the realism of the vehicles in the game. Last week it happened again—not once, but twice.
On December 11, one of the users published training materials on the Norinco VT-4 tank (reports Cyber Daily). And on December 12, another player posted a manual for the M2A2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle (writes Task and Purpose).
Threads with documents were quickly deleted by War Thunder moderators. Although both sets of papers are not classified, they contain confidential information. Additionally, the M2A2 Bradley manual is controlled upon export.
Gaijin Entertainment founder Anton Yudintsev told Task and Purpose that “we’ve done our part to limit the leak” of the M2A2 Bradley documents, but noted that the manual was posted on other boards before being uploaded to the War Thunder forum.
We can’t do anything about what happens on other platforms.
This is the ninth time in 2023 that a player has leaked military documents in War Thunder – as indicated by the list of incidents on Wikipedia. The first leak of this year occurred on January 16, when secret papers were leaked twice in a week.
