Tragic Fatal Accident Captured on Film: Canadian Tourist Killed by Shark or Crocodile in Mexico

Unaware that a man is fighting for his life in the background, the family of Marlene Luviano captured the tragic fatal accident on film.

This is reported by the news agency Jam Press.

Heard something from the sea

Luviano and her family were on the beach in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico. She asked the child’s father if he could film her playing with their daughter, as it was the little girl’s birthday.

– We had a great morning on the beach, when we heard something from the sea, she tells Jam Press.

The clip published on TikTok shows mother and daughter playing by the beach before Luviano realizes something is wrong. She leads her daughter away from the water’s edge and tells her father to stop filming.

In the background of the video, 76-year-old Joseph Bynens is seen swimming towards a buoy and waving his arms in the air in a desperate cry for help, before he is dragged into the depths.

– Before the 76-year-old was rescued, he had already bled to death, says Luviano according to Jam Press.

Was attacked

Bynens was swimming on December 14 when he was attacked by what is believed to be a shark or crocodile.

His partner was also attacked by the same animal and is now receiving treatment in hospital.

The Canadian tourist was eventually rescued from the sea. Unfortunately, most of his leg was gone and he died from blood loss.

Killed after topless photo

– When they pulled him up from the sea, you could clearly see the injuries. I noticed that there was no longer any blood coming from the wounds, says the child’s mother to the news agency.

Investigation is ongoing

Initial damage reports indicated that the damage was caused by a shark attack. After examining the damage more closely, the authorities now believe it may have been a crocodile.

The investigation is still ongoing, and it has not been determined whether the Canadian tourist was killed by a crocodile or a shark.
