MTA Bus and Car Crash Injures 13 in Bronx, NY

NEW YORK — Thirteen people were injured in a car crash involving an MTA bus Wednesday in the Bronx, according to the New York City Police Department.

Authorities learned of the incident shortly after 9 p.m. after receiving a 911 call.

The accident took place near the intersection of Bruckner Boulevard y Hunts Point Avenue in the Longwood section of the county.

The 13 victims, who suffered minor injuries, were taken to local hospitals. Eight were taken to Lincoln Hospital and the remaining five to St. Barnabas Hospital, according to police.

Bus routes were affected in the Bronx, with delays affecting the eastbound Bx5 bus, and the Bx6 and Bx6-SBS both directions.

At this time, buses will not skip stops.

According to the FDNY, drivers and travelers are told to expect a large presence of emergency personnel near the crash intersection. Consider alternative routes and allow additional travel time.
