Lelde and Gatis Alkšni from “Vakrem” in Novadnieku Parish are a rich family with four children. They once lived and worked in Norway, but decided to return to Latvia during the pandemic. The first summer was spent in rather extreme conditions – living in a tent while communications were installed in the house. The small house of 127 square meters built in 1920 is the fulfillment of the family’s dreams.
The house in question can truly be called their handiwork, because everything was done by their own hands. A home school is also set up here, as the children study at home.
Architect Aigars Vilnītis, who calls himself an architectural craftsman, took on the role of an expert.
The series of programs “Country Life Notes” reveals the biggest challenges when buying and developing a property in the countryside, and will also show various original solutions to ensure the comforts of everyday life.
