Israeli army releases footage of hostages’ voices before accidental shooting

(CNN) – The Israeli army announced on Wednesday that the voices of the three hostages who were accidentally killed were captured by a camera that was attached to an Israeli military dog before they were shot.

Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said in his daily press conference that the video, which was found by Israeli forces on Tuesday, shows that the recording took place during an exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Hamas militants at the site where the three hostages were being held. The dog was killed at that time.

Hagari added: “You can hear the voices, and when we analyzed the clip, we understood that in the audio we could hear the three hostages, and they were fully identified.”

He did not provide details about what the hostages were saying.

The spokesman stated that an initial analysis by the Israeli army of a video clip showed that the Hamas militants who took the three hostages were killed during the fighting, which appeared to have allowed the hostages to escape.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli army admitted to shooting and killing the hostages, on Friday, who were held by “Hamas” during the surprise attack carried out by the movement on October 7.

An Israeli army official, who spoke to reporters on condition of anonymity to speak freely about the ongoing investigation, said that the hostages emerged from a building dozens of meters away from a group of Israeli forces and were without shirts and waving a white flag.

After a soldier felt threatened, he opened fire, killing two on the spot, and wounding the third who returned to the building and died later.

The Israeli unit heard a distress call in Hebrew, and at that time the brigade commander ordered his forces to cease fire.
