FAJAR.CO.ID, MAGETAN – The war against waste continues to be promoted by the Chief of Army Staff (Kasad) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak through various rehabilitation and nature conservation activities.
One of them is by deploying 2,010 Indonesian Army soldiers to the Mount Lawu area, on Wednesday (20/12/2023), to clean up rubbish and carry out reforestation after the Forest and Land Fire (Karhutla) occurred some time ago at that location.
Kasad hopes that this kind of cleaning and greening movement can run continuously, and is supported by regulations from the local government.
Kasad also emphasized that the task of protecting the natural environment is actually a shared responsibility, because this movement is very important to anticipate potential disasters that could impact all levels of society.
“Hopefully this activity can become a shared culture. Because this is not only the responsibility of the TNI, but also all levels of society and agencies in this country. It’s amazing what our colleagues have done. I thank all personnel involved in this (trash) cleaning and (tree) planting activity. “Hopefully it will continue to protect nature, and in the future we can continue to improve our performance for the sake of preserving nature,” said TNI General Maruli.
This activity at Mount Lawu also shows the TNI AD’s commitment and concern for preserving nature in Indonesia.
Previously, no less than 2,000 hectares of land in the Mount Lawu area burned and became barren land.
