Serbian Election Commission Faces Protests and Allegations of Voter Fraud in Parliamentary and Municipal Elections

The decision was made after two days of protests in front of the election commission office, in which several thousand people participated.

International observers, including representatives of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), found various violations, including vote buying and multiple voting by one person.

As reported, the ruling Progressive Party of Serbia (SNS) represented by President Aleksandar Vučić, according to the official results, won about 46% of the votes in the parliamentary elections, winning an absolute majority, while the leading coalition of opposition parties “Serbia Against Violence” (SPN) – only 23.5% of the votes. .

The SNS has announced that it also won the simultaneous municipal elections in Belgrade, where the ruling party had to face the strongest opposition from the SPN.

The SPN was formed after months of anti-government protests sparked by shootings in May that killed 17 people, including eight children.
