ATLANTA, Georgia (Telemundo Atlanta) – “If I have an accident, do I have to pay something to the lawyer when I hire him?”
Lawyer Luis A. Virgüez responded to this question: “You do not have to hire a lawyer who will charge you up front, if he is an accident lawyer. He is very different than an immigration or criminal case or family law attorney.
“A lawyer who handles your accident case only gets paid if the person wins and receives compensation for the injuries,” he explained in the Luis Responde segment.
Virgüez pointed out that many lawyers on television claim that “you don’t pay if you don’t win,” because if the person does not win the case, the lawyer will not receive payment for that type of services.
He stressed that people should look for a lawyer who is clear and who tells them how much the percentage they will receive for compensation for accidents and medical injuries, not for the property side.
Likewise, he remembered that the lawyer should never charge a percentage of the check that the person will receive for the car crash.
