PARINGIN – The rainy season has arrived, its intensity in the last few days has begun to increase. The arrival of the rainy season is usually accompanied by the threat of a number of diseases.
One of the diseases that people must be wary of when the rainy season arrives is Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). This infectious disease is caused by the dengue virus which is carried by female Aedes aegypti & Aedes Albopictus mosquitoes.
Various anticipatory steps were taken. Like the Paringin Community Health Center which carries out fogging or fumigation in several locations. “Including in East Paringin and Kota Subdistricts, then in Sungai Ketapi Village,” said Santy Ermasari as DBD Program Holder at the Paringin Community Health Center.
Santy added that this dengue case will continue to be a concern for his party. According to him, the peak of cases usually occurs in February. “The peak is in February, in March-April there usually starts to decline,” he added.

According to Santy, fogging is the final step after the main prevention. Namely, 3M Plus Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN).
He explained the steps taken by 3M Plus, namely draining water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs, and recycling various items that have the potential to become breeding grounds for the Aedes aegypti mosquito which carries the dengue virus in humans.
Apart from the 3 M above, what is meant by the Plus point includes planting plants that can ward off mosquitoes, checking water reservoirs, keeping fish that eat mosquito larvae, using anti-mosquito medication, installing wire mesh on windows and ventilation in the house.
“Carrying out mutual cooperation to clean the environment together, putting used clothes in closed containers, providing larvicide to water reservoirs that are difficult to drain, and repairing water channels and gutters that are not running smoothly,” he explained.
Apart from that, he continued, steps before fogging that had also been carried out were epidemiological investigations (PE) carried out to find out the course of dengue cases, eradication of mosquito nests (PSN) with Jumantik cadres (Large Monitoring Officers), socialization of linsek with village heads, Paringin District, Adaro Indonesia , and Community Health Centers, as well as the Health Office.
Then there was also the provision of abate powder, apart from that, training was also carried out for Jumantik cadres in the East Paringin Subdistrict area, carrying out appeals to the community through mobile counseling, counseling to schools and during posyandu about the 1 house 1 jumantik and 3M Plus movements.
