Häcken Surprisingly Tops Champions League Group with Win Against Real Madrid, Paris FC and Draw Against Chelsea: Goalkeeper Jennifer Falk Shines

Win against Real Madrid, win against Paris FC and draw against Chelsea.

After the taste start, Häcken surprisingly tops its Champions League group ahead of the big dragons.

On Wednesday evening, a home match against Chelsea awaits.

– It will be a tough match again because it is a good team, but it will be fun to see if what we have practiced during the week can produce results so that we can hurt them more offensively than we did last time, says goalkeeper Jennifer Falk .

She can look back on some sweaty matches in the European Games.

– It has felt good, but at the same time I think it is the collaboration with the team that has helped me. It’s hard work from the outfielders that you might not always think about. Then it’s fun for me to be a little more involved than I have been in some matches during the year.

“Falk is a thunder goalkeeper”

If Jennifer Falk humbly emphasizes the defensive game instead of raising herself to the skies, the outfielders choose to pay tribute to Falk.

– It is incredibly safe to have her back there. It’s a nice feeling when we might accidentally let an opponent past, then you think: “We have Falk – she’ll take this,” says striker Rosa Kafaji.

Fullback Anna Sandberg fills in:

– Falk is a great goalkeeper and you feel very safe with her. She is cruel.

Jennifer Falk thinks that Häcken has risen on several levels recently, which means that the club can now compete with big clubs internationally.

– It is difficult to compare with previous years, but I feel a great sense of security now. We have raised our lowest level and also raised the highest level a bit. We have more evenness now. Above all, that is what makes the difference, says the 30-year-old national team goalkeeper.

“We deserve to lead”

However, she admits that she is surprised by the team’s fine results in the CL group stage so far.

– Maybe I didn’t think in advance that we would lead the group after half of the games, but I think we do it deservedly because we have performed very well.

In advance, the group was described as a nightmare draw for Häcken, but now Hisingsklubben can be ready for the quarter-finals.

– It would have been fun, but I had no idea about it and haven’t thought about it at all. It is clear that it would have been great fun, but it is important that we take one match at a time and then let it be as it will be, says Jennifer Falk.

After Wednesday’s meeting with Chelsea, Häcken has two games left to play in the group: Paris FC at home on January 24 and Real Madrid away on January 30.
