Domestic directors are actively conquering the blockbuster genre, presenting more and more new films. And while some of these projects are warmly received by both local and foreign audiences, others only disappoint fans.
Thus, in 2020, Janik Fayziev’s science fiction film “Galaxy Goalkeeper” was released on the country’s screens. The ambitious film told the story of a soccer team from planet Earth that had to fight alien players for the future of their home. The main roles in the film were played by Evgeny Mironov, Evgeny Romantsov, Maria Lisovaya and other famous artists, and the budget amounted to a record 780 million rubles.
But neither viewers nor critics appreciated the picture at all. In their opinion, the film turned out to be clumsy, uninteresting and boring. The actors couldn’t cope with their roles, the graphics looked like a student project, and the plot copied many famous Hollywood films, including The Matrix. And in the end, the film grossed a little more than one million, becoming the most disastrous film in recent years.
