Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian replacing a number of acting regional heads, including the Acting Regent of Kampar, Riau, Firdaus. Tito removed Firdaus from his position because he was suspected of not being neutral in the lead-up 2024 Election.
“After we have properly evaluated the information, we will automatically replace it and not just Kampar. There are several public reports that we have checked by the inspectorate that are true, there is evidence, so we will take firm steps,” said Tito to journalists at the Indonesian Media Center. Maju, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (19/12/2023).
“(Is Kampar really not neutral?) One of the reasons is that,” he added.
Tito said that his party carried out an evaluation of 112 regional officials regarding the issue of neutrality of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN). Where, 59 regional officials received red report cards.
“Reports are coming in about things that are not neutral, things that have gone viral in videos of all kinds, yes they do exist. That’s why we are taking steps to replace them because there are also a lot of complaints, complaints from political parties, then complaints from election participants, especially later “I want to hold regional elections too,” said Tito.
Minister of Home Affairs Removes Acting Regent of Kampar
Previously it was reported, the Acting Regent of Kampar, Riau, Firdaus was removed by Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian. Now Firdaus’ position has been replaced by the Regional Secretary of Kampar Regency, Hambali.
Information received by detikSumut, the Minister of Home Affairs issued Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 100.2.1.3-6598 of 2023 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the Acting Regent of Kampar.
In the letter, the Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian dismissed Firdaus, who was only appointed in May 2023.
“Dismissing Brother Mhd Firdaus, who when he was appointed as Acting Regent of Kampar, Riau Province served as Head of the Regional Government and Autonomy Bureau of the Regional Secretariat of Riau Province,” reads an excerpt from the decision.
This decision was signed by Minister of Home Affairs Tito in Jakarta on December 13. Apart from dismissing Firdaus, Tito Karnavian also appointed Hambali as Acting Regent of Kampar.
