A public prosecutor was assaulted last week in the hallway of the court in Haarlem by a 17-year-old suspect. It happened just after the boy’s juvenile hearing. The public prosecutor was injured, writes NH.
The teenager was charged with prohibited possession of weapons and money laundering at the hearing that took place behind closed doors. Afterwards, the boy attacked his accuser in the hallway. Sources tell the regional broadcaster that the man was knocked down and injured in several places on his face. The Public Prosecution Service has not confirmed this. However, the Public Prosecution Service can say that the officer is now doing well again.
The Central Netherlands public prosecutor’s office is investigating the incident, they report to NH.
Circumstance unclear
Because the hearing took place behind closed doors, it is not clear whether anything had already happened between the two in the room. According to a spokesperson for the North Holland court, nothing remarkable happened. “The suspect had not answered the judge’s questions, but that happens often,” he says. On the other hand, no such attack. “These are incidents that rarely happen. It is very annoying.”
The boy is currently in custody. The lawyer who represented the suspect during the juvenile hearing does not want to comment. The boy has hired another lawyer for this abuse case, but he also does not want to respond.
