King Salman Chairs Council of Ministers Session – Reviews International Relations, Economic Cooperation, and Domestic Policies

Al-Marsad newspaper – SPA: The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – chaired the session held by the Council of Ministers, today, in Riyadh.

The beginning of the session

At the beginning of the session, the Council of Ministers expressed great appreciation for the efforts of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect him – in leading the Kingdom’s hosting of Expo 2030 and its victory in this global event, which is consistent with its pioneering and pivotal role and its international status, and comes as an extension of its successes. Successive organizing of global forums, once again thanks to the voting countries and welcoming the peoples of the world to learn about the development witnessed by the Kingdom and its capital, Riyadh, in various fields under (Vision 2030).

The Council then discussed the overall official visit made by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister – may God protect him – to the State of Qatar, and what his discussions with His Highness the Emir of the State of Qatar confirmed of the strength of brotherly relations, the common desire to deepen bilateral cooperation, and to work He called for continued coordination and consultation on issues of common concern, praising in this context the results of the seventh meeting of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council, and the signing of a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries.

His Excellency the Minister of Information, Mr. Salman bin Youssef Al-Dosari, explained in his statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the session, that the Council of Ministers, when reviewing the outcomes of the (forty-fourth) session of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, affirmed the Kingdom’s keenness to strengthen the process of joint action and achieve integration and interconnection. Coordination between member states in all fields, and continuing to develop partnerships with the international community.

Feelings of sorrow and resolve over the death of the Emir of Kuwait

The Council expressed its deep feelings of sorrow and sadness over the death of His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait – may God have mercy on him -, who passed away after a career full of giving and achievement. The Council congratulated His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on assuming the reins of government in Kuwait, asking God Almighty to grant him success, appoint him, and direct his steps to serve his country and its brotherly people.

The Council of Ministers praised the results achieved by the visits of His Excellency the President of the Federal Republic of Brazil and His Excellency the President of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom, which reflected the excellence of relations with these two friendly countries, the determination to strengthen and frame cooperation in various fields, to continue joint coordination towards international challenges, and to support everything that would Establishing peace and stability in the region and the world.

Follow up on the efforts made to stop the aggressive escalation in Gaza

The Council followed the efforts made by the Kingdom at the political and humanitarian levels to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, protect civilians, and continue providing relief aid to those affected by the brotherly Palestinian people. To alleviate their suffering as a result of the current crisis.

His Excellency stated that the Council of Ministers touched on the international meetings and conferences hosted by the Kingdom during the past days, noting that the International Labor Market Conference witnessed the signing of about (80) agreements and memorandums of cooperation that will contribute – God willing – to keeping pace with the transformations in this sector and investing in its opportunities and fields.

The Council considered the selection of His Excellency the Minister of Finance as Chairman of the International Monetary and Financial Affairs Committee at the International Monetary Fund, and the Kingdom’s win of membership in the International Maritime Organization Council, as confirmation of its high standing on the international scene and its prominent role in strengthening international multilateral action.

The Council of Ministers reviewed the topics on its agenda, including topics that the Shura Council participated in studying. It also reviewed what the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, the Council of Political and Security Affairs, the General Committee of the Council of Ministers, and the Council of Experts of the Council of Ministers had concluded regarding this matter. The Council concluded the following:

Firstly

Authorizing His Royal Highness the Minister of Energy – or his representative – to discuss and sign with the Austrian and Philippine sides regarding two draft memorandums of understanding between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the government of the Republic of Austria, and the government of the Republic of the Philippines for cooperation in the field of energy.

Approval of a memorandum of understanding between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the Republic of India for cooperation in the field of energy.

Third

Approval of a memorandum of understanding regarding political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

Fourthly

Authorizing His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs – or his representative – to sign with the Customs Union Authority of the Gulf Cooperation Council States a draft headquarters agreement between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Customs Union Authority of the Gulf Cooperation Council States.

Fifth

Approval of a declaration of intent between the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Department of Business and Trade of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Sixthly

Authorizing His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources – or his representative – to discuss and sign with the Japanese side a draft memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Japan in the field of mining and mineral resources.

Seventh

Approval of two memorandums of understanding for cooperation in the field of tourism between the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism of Montenegro, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan.

Eighth

Approval of a memorandum of understanding in the investment field between the Ministry of Investment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Public-Private Partnership Authority in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

Ninth

Authorizing His Excellency the Minister of Economy and Planning – or his representative – to discuss and sign with the Vietnamese side a draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Economy and Planning in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for cooperation in the economic field.

Tenth

Authorizing His Excellency the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Digital Government Authority – or his representative – to discuss and sign with the Estonian side a draft memorandum of understanding between the Digital Government Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Information Technology in the Republic of Estonia to enhance cooperation in the field of digital government. on him.

Establishing a body named (Saudi Gaming and Electronic Sports Authority), in accordance with its organizational arrangements.

twelfth

Approval of naming the year (2024 AD) as the “Year of the Camel (2024 AD).”

Allowing local agricultural companies and large farmers to grow wheat and seasonal fodder according to controls set by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture.

Fourteenth

Appointment of His Excellency Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Mubarak as a member, and the renewal of the membership of His Excellency Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, His Excellency Dr. Ghassan bin Abdulrahman Al-Shibl and Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Namlah, in the Board of Directors of the Saudi Industrial Development Fund. Approving the continuation of Engineer/Ayman bin Ishaq Afghani as a member of the Council, starting from 4/6/1444 AH until today.

Fifteenth

Approval of the decision of the Supreme Committee for Transport and Logistics Services, which stipulated “Approval to raise the local content target in the road sector strategy from (60%) to (70%) by the year 2030 AD, in line with the local content target for government purchases according to the National Emiratization Strategy.”

Approving the final accounts of the Education and Training Evaluation Commission and the King Fahd Causeway Corporation for the previous fiscal year.

The Council of Ministers also reviewed a number of general topics on its agenda, including annual reports of the General Authority for Military Industries, the Human Rights Commission, the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Commission, the Board of Grievances, the King Abdulaziz Center for Purebred Arabian Horses, the National Center for E-Learning, and the Financial Academy. The Council has taken the necessary measures regarding these issues.
