Frida Karlsson was worried about her participation in the Tour de Ski after the weekend’s competitions in Trondheim.

But the Swedish star is in the squad.

Jonna Sundling is also included.

Frida Karlsson has struggled with her form since she contracted covid after the World Cup premiere in Ruka. The star dropped out of the weekend’s final competition in Trondheim and admitted that she was worried about the upcoming tour.

– With this body, I don’t even know if I’ll make it through the Tour de Ski, she said.

But when the Swedish squad was released on Tuesday, Karlsson was there. So do Johanna Hagström, Sofia Henriksson and Moa Lundgren, who have not been sure of a place.

– Sofia Henriksson took the last place among the ladies after her fine performance in 10 km classic on the WC tracks in Trondheim last Sunday. It feels good to be able to give her the chance in a tour after she showed such a high level against tough opposition, says national team manager Anders Byström in a press release.

Sundling makes a comeback

Jonna Sundling, who missed several competitions due to covid, is also in the squad.

The Swedish squad consists of a total of 19 skaters.

– The basic quota for Sweden is six active of each gender, but we also have three men in the top 20 in the sprint cup and more than four women. Which means that we get to start with 19 active in this year’s Tour de Ski – ten ladies and nine men, says Byström.
