Revolutionary Reading Campaign: Tram Stops Turned into Libraries in Zaragoza

With fun costumes, a good book in hand and the conviction that reading is much better than spending time glued to the screen, the Almozandia group has revolutionized the Zaragoza tram this Tuesday morning on the occasion of the “Stop, stop” campaign. look, read. And from this Tuesday until next January 8, five stops of this means of transport will become improvised libraries where users will be able to borrow books to read while they wait, during the journey or even take them home if they read. It has hooked them. The new campaign of the Consistory will arrive to the double stops of Pablo Neruda and Clara Campoamor (Grancasa), Cesaraugusto, Plaza Aragón, Plaza San Francisco and Paseo de los Olvidados with the aim of leaving the screens behind and immersing yourself in the pleasure of reading.

At the stops you can find both children’s and adult books.

At each of the stops, you can find two lots with 10 books for adults, 13 for children and five informative books. The user can pick them up and return them at the same or any of the other stops of the campaign or do so at a municipal library after Christmas.. There will be a total of 1,500 books that will be renewed with the aim that regular tram travelers can find different titles on each trip.

Titles like Kika Superbruja, Where the Heart Takes You or Martín Ojo de Plata were waiting today at the Cesaraugusto stop for a reader to discover their story. The Almozandia group will be at this and the four remaining stops and also inside the tram doing dynamization this Wednesday and on December 21, 26 and 28 from 10:00 to 11:00 and from 17:00 to 18:00.

“Our intention from the beginning has been to bring culture closer, to take libraries out onto the street so that citizens have them closer and do not see libraries only as a place for study but also for leisure,” explained the delegate councilor of Education, Paloma Espinosa. This initiative joins others carried out by the City Council in terms of promoting reading, such as the Kiosk of Letters or the improvised libraries that were set up in the municipal swimming pools in the summer.
