A young mother from Güstrow is facing life imprisonment. More than two years ago, her son was found dead in her apartment.
The Rostock regional court wants to announce its verdict this afternoon against a young mother accused of murder by omission. According to the indictment, the 24-year-old is said to have failed to provide her one-year-old son with enough food and fluids and not consulted a doctor when he became ill. The case against the woman was opened in June.
Charge: deliberately neglected children
Instead, she left the child alone in her apartment to spend time with her boyfriend. Two years ago, she is said to have deliberately neglected her two one- and four-year-old sons. The one-year-old boy then died in September 2021 from a clot in his pulmonary arteries as a result of severe diarrhea. The public prosecutor demanded a life sentence. The defense pleaded for a prison sentence of no more than one and a half years suspended for negligent homicide.
