The sole judge of the South Jakarta District Court (PN) Imelda Herawati stated that she could not accept the pre-trial lawsuit submitted by the inactive KPK Commissioner Firli Bahuri.
The lawsuit was filed by Firli regarding the designation of a suspect in an alleged corruption case including extortion of former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) by Polda Metro Jaya.
“Declaring that the applicant’s pretrial application is unacceptable,” said judge Imelda at the South Jakarta District Court, Tuesday (19/12).
Firli was not present at today’s hearing. He was represented by his attorney.
The determination of Firli as a suspect was announced by Polda Metro Jaya on November 22 2023. The investigative team assessed that there was sufficient evidence to charge Firli.
Firli then submitted a pre-trial hearing to the South Jakarta District Court on Friday, November 24 2023. He sued Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Pol Karyoto.
During the trial, the Polda Metro Jaya Legal Advocacy Team (Bidkum PMJ) revealed that Firli received billions of rupiah in relation to handling legal issues at the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) in 2020-2023.
Meanwhile, Firli, through his lawyer, Ian Iskandar, accused the ongoing case at Polda Metro Jaya of not being purely law enforcement. According to Firli, Karyoto has an interest in this case.
