The 50th anniversary is an important milestone in the life of every person. Ilya Averbukh, as befits an ice show maestro, celebrated his birthday with two high-profile concerts. The Moscow VTB Arena saw both the favorite numbers of famous athletes and several new products. Averbukh also surprised the audience with surprises.
The home arena of the Dynamo hockey team seats up to 14 thousand spectators. About a quarter of the hall was not for sale at all – there was a huge stage with screens. The lower tier was almost completely filled, but the upper sectors still turned out to be half empty. It seems that the evening anniversary concert was attended by approximately 6-7 thousand people. A decent number for an ice show.
It took more than three hours to cover the entire story of the great skater. Along with congratulations and intermission, the audience spent about four hours at the VTB Arena. Moreover, in the end, the concert ended almost at midnight, but almost the entire audience remained until the very end of the performances, warmly welcoming each participant.
The storyline of the anniversary included several important parts. Naturally, Averbukh’s story began with a sports career. We came to congratulate our partner Marina Anisina and ex-wife Irina Lobacheva, with whom he performed over the years. With each of his partners, he rode a symbolic circle and performed a lift. I supported this gesture and Natalya Linichuk, former coach of Ilya Izyaslavich. The 67-year-old specialist also went out on the ice and skated with her student. A Sofia Shevchenko/Andrey Yezhlov showed part of the Olympic dance by Lobacheva and Averbukh.
The next “era” of the maestro’s life is touring with ice performances. Excerpts from various productions by Averbukh were embodied on the ice, many of which became truly iconic. “Romeo and Juliet”, “City Lights”, “Anna Karenina” and, of course, “Carmen” with the two-time world champion Evgenia Medvedevawhich premiered just a couple of months ago.
A significant amount of time was devoted to “Ice Age”. Averbukh invested in each season of the project and literally spent the night next to the ice during filming. Naturally, it would be unrealistic to gather all the participants of “Glacial,” but the number of stars who agreed was truly amazing. They not only went out on the ice in skates to beautifully congratulate their mentor, but also showed several elements that they had learned during this time. The skaters from Ice Age are highlighted in a separate line. Children”. They competed in the project when they were 10-12 years old, and now they confidently shine at junior tournaments.
Another important part of Ilya’s work is setting programs. Here is the legendary “White Raven” performed Mikhail Kolyadaand a warm room from a family of champions Maria Petrova and Alexey Tikhonovand emotional Alexey Yagudin under “How Young We Were.” In parallel with Yagudin’s speech, a video with archival photographs of Averbukh and his colleagues was shown on the screen, which looked very touching.
There were also new items at the show. In particular, the hero of the day managed to work on new numbers for Anna Shcherbakova and Evgenia Medvedeva. Both skaters are incredibly good at lyrical images. Medvedeva, by the way, got the production with live vocals by himself Philip Kirkorovwho warmly congratulated Averbukh and thanked him for his work.
The hero of the evening, of course, was told many important and pleasant words. But emotionally the main figure of the day was Roman Kostomarov. For the first time after the tragedy, he appeared on the ice in the Sochi tour – then the Olympic champion came out wearing sneakers worn with prosthetics. Kostomarov recently posted on social networks his attempts to skate, but no one could have imagined that Roman would actually appear as part of the show. Moreover, the surprise of the evening show was a joint performance with Tatiana Navka. The champions of Turin 2006 recalled an excerpt from the victorious “Carmen”, and, surprisingly, all in the same legendary costumes.
The audience greeted Kostomarov with a standing ovation. The audience clapped for a particularly long time after his release, many shed tears. In fact, Roman’s performance became the culmination of a sincere anniversary. But if we evaluate the overall picture, it is difficult to fully convey the entire atmosphere of the holiday at the VTB Arena. Live vocals from famous artists, endless congratulations from many people, including Tatyana Tarasovaaerial acrobats and incendiary special effects, and even a solo performance by the hero of the day – only a small part of what happened in Moscow.
