Poet Andris Ogriņš has passed away at the age of 48, according to his spouse’s post on the social network “Facebook”.
“Andris Ogriņš will no longer write anything. He is dead, and I think it would not be a surprise to many why,” writes his wife Anda Ogriņa.
A. Ogriņš’s first poetry publication is a set of poems in the newspaper “Kultūras Forums” on October 13, 2006. In 2008, his first collection of poems “I swear by ravens” was published, the author was awarded the Literary Award of the Year in the category “Brightest Debut”, as well as the Excellence Scholarship of the International House of Writers and Translators and the Ventspils City Council.
He published several more books in the following years. The collections “Under the clock”, “Plaukstu kharsielas” and “That bird’s day” have been nominated for the Literature of the Year award in the nomination “Best poetry collection”.
