Oberkrämer is planning for 2024 with a budget deficit of more than 2 million euros. Why this is not yet dramatic and what the community will spend money on.

Oberkrämer. Income is lower than planned expenses. The budget for 2024 has been approved in the municipality of Oberkrämer. Mayor Wolfgang Geppert (Free Voters) announced this. The deficit in the earnings budget is around 2.25 million euros. Specifically, income of 32.45 million euros is offset by planned expenses of 34.7 million euros. Oberkrämer is credit-free.

And because the reserve from surpluses shown in the last audited final balance sheet from 2020 amounts to 34.23 million euros, the budget is considered to be covered. Nevertheless, savings have to be made. Only it will remain possible to present a solid budget plan in the future, said the mayor.

Expenses for personnel alone will increase by 1.79 million euros to 15.43 million euros in 2024. 44 percent of the budget volume is used for this, which is two percentage points more than in the previous year. “Due to the strong development of the community and the increasing number of tasks to be fulfilled, additional staff are being hired in all areas and form the basis for the increase in staff positions,” says Wolfgang Geppert. “In detail, the overall increase in personnel expenses compared to the previous year can be explained as follows: new hires, wage increases, higher groupings.”

Around 4.26 million euros are to be invested in Oberkrämer in the coming year. 1.5 million euros are budgeted for converting the old Bötzwer gymnasium into classrooms for the primary school. Almost 145,000 euros are to be spent on the new play equipment at the local daycare centers. 400,000 euros are planned for the thorough expansion of the Wendemarker Weg in Bärenklau.
Post windmill in Vehlefanz: 120,000 euros for the renovation
In the area of building value preservation, 60,000 euros are to be spent on the renovation of the sanitary facilities on the upper floor of the Vehlefanzer Nashorn primary school. 120,000 euros have been earmarked for renovation work on the post mill in Vehlefanz. If someone is interested in the community’s own restaurant space in Klein-Ziethen, 240,000 euros will be available for the renovation of the space.
