Sodexo Peru Expands Operations into Health Sector, Plans to Double Turnover in Coming Years

In recent months, Sodexo Peru added the health sector as a new client – in addition to being a banking, industrial and pharmaceutical supplier -, operating minor maintenance and cleaning services in eight clinics in Lima, while preparing its entry into a private medical center in Arequipa. “We are thinking big, decentralizing our operations in main cities,” says Juan Montoya Bamberger, country managing director of the firm at the local level.

Along these lines, he anticipates that in the first half of 2024 nine additional command centers will open – from where client assets are managed and requirements are met -: three in Lima and the first six in the provinces (Pucallpa, Huancayo, Trujillo, Piura , Arequipa and Cusco). Although he did not specify how much the total investment will amount to, he estimates that at least 400 new jobs will be generated.

In this way, he expects that the corporate segment, which represents 30% of total income (which would be around S/ 900 million this year), “will begin to take a greater participation in its business” compared to the mining and hydrocarbons segment. which represents 70%, although its prospects are conservative, since the Quellaveco mine has completed its construction and there are no new projects underway. Despite this, the firm’s vision is to double its turnover “in the next four or five years.”

The company of French origin does not rule out continuing to bring other lines of business to the Peruvian market that have already been tested on an international scale. Thus, it will participate in the field of sporting events. It has closed an agreement to provide food services in the box suites of the Monumental Stadium of Universitario de Deportes. It is its first foray of its kind into South America.

“This should become a niche market where we want to quantify the potential. In the Monumental alone, there are 1,200 suites and almost 30 events a year. We hope to take the model to concerts and other activities at the stadium. If it proves to be successful, we would take it to other sports venues,” says the executive.

In addition, there are plans for Sodexo Peru to enter the education sector. It would be in charge of the infrastructure management service at all the headquarters of a well-known institution.
