He Canarian Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH), dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, last week organized different blood donation campaigns in four educational centers in Tenerife.
The campaigns were held during school hours to facilitate student participation. Thus, in the facilities of the German School, located in the The rosarythe third edition of the donation campaign was carried out, to which 14 people came to donate.
He CEIP Camino de la Villa, in La Laguna, It was another of the educational centers that hosted an extraction day. In this case, under the motto ‘From drop to drop and I donate in case it’s my turn’, the 6th grade Primary students took charge of organizing and promoting this campaign, which celebrated its fourth edition. A total of 29 people came to donate blood in response to the call from the educational community.
Primary Students
For his part, the CEIP Practices Annex EUP, of La Laguna, hosted its second donation campaign which this year had the motto ‘Extend a person’s life by sharing yours’. The 6th grade Primary students were also in charge of assisting the 20 people who came to donate to the mobile unit located next to the educational center.
Finally, the eighth edition of the donation campaign took place in the CEIP Las Mercedes, also promoted by 6th grade Primary students, in which 57 people interested in donating blood participated.
Collections
The ICHH organizes these collections throughout the year in the educational centers of the archipelago with the aim of sensitize students about the importance of blood donation, with the students being in charge of organizing the logistics of the campaigns, including donation schedules, the preparation of materials and gifts for donors, in addition to the setting in the centers with promotional elements .
Furthermore, the participating students take care of receive and accompany donors throughout the entire process: reception, waiting room, refreshment and photocall, and taking them to the medical interview areas and extraction room, performing all the tasks of the ICHH promotion team.
The ICHH thanks the educational centers for their involvement in the organization of these initiativesas well as the people who have offered to donate blood in these campaigns, mainly teaching and administrative staff of the centers and family members of the students.
