Moscow. December 18. INTERFAX.RU – North Korea launched a ballistic missile on Monday morning, Yonhap reports, citing the South Korean military.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said North Korea launched a long-range missile from Pyongyang or its environs at 8:24 a.m. (2:24 a.m. GMT) Monday.
According to JCS, it flew about 570 km before falling into the Sea of Japan.
“Our military maintains a state of full alert and is in close contact and sharing information about the ‘North Korean ballistic missile’ with the United States and Japan,” the statement said.
According to Japan’s Defense Ministry, which also recorded the launch of at least one North Korean ballistic missile, it was expected to land about 250 kilometers west of the northern island of Okushiri (Hokkaido), outside the country’s exclusive economic zone, in the Sea of Japan at about 9:37 a.m. morning (3:37 Moscow time).
