Real Estate Market Study: Renting Apartments in French Cities – Lyon Ranks Among Top Cities for Fast Rentals

A study on the real estate market, carried out by the online rental management agency Flatlooker, highlights the average time needed to rent an apartment in six major French cities: Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Paris and Toulouse.

If Paris is the fastest for renting 1-room apartments, Lyon is doing well and is on the podium for three out of four types of properties. The capital of Gaul ranks among the cities where larger apartments, of the T2 and T3 type, are the most popular.

13 days to rent a T1 in Lyon

The city of Lyon occupies 2nd place for the rental of one-room apartments, since an apartment of this type is rented on average in 13 days, compared to 16.33 days for the national average. This type of property rents slightly more quickly in Paris (11 days), and in an equivalent time in Bordeaux (14 days).

Lyon better than Paris for renting T2 and T3

For the rental of T2 and T3, it is a tie between Bordeaux and Lyon, both at the top of the ranking. It takes on average 12 days to rent a T2 and 16 days to rent a T3 in these cities, compared to an average of 14.42 days and 19.5 days respectively across the whole of France. Lyon tenants are more keen on T3s than Lille residents, 3rd in the ranking, and for whom it takes on average 21 days to rent this type of property.

On the T4 rental market, it is in Bordeaux that the average rental period is the shortest with an average of 20 days, followed by Paris (23 days) and Marseille (24 days). For this type of property, Lyon is not on the podium.
