A 57-year-old man was arrested on Saturday evening because he is held responsible for taking a 71-year-old woman hostage in a home on the Huigenbos in Zuidoost. The police announced this today. The resident’s dog was taken along, but he has now been reunited with his owner.

The hostage taking took place on Friday morning around 11.30 am in a house on the Huigenbos in Zuidoost. A robber pretends to be a parcel deliverer, after which several suspects enter the house. This hostage situation lasts a number of hours, during which the resident is held against her will and threatened. “When the suspects leave after hours, they take the woman’s dog with them and leave her shocked,” police said.

The police and Forensic Investigation (FO) started an investigation that ultimately resulted in the arrest of one of the suspects: the 57-year-old Amsterdam resident. The dog is also found in good health and can be reunited with the woman.

Witness call
