Larian Studio Head Sven Vincke Announces Continued Support for Baldur’s Gate 3 in 2024

Larian studio head Sven Vincke stated that they will continue supporting Baldur’s Gate 3 next year. In an interview with IGN, when asked about plans for post-launch support in 2024, Sven said:

Obviously we’re working on other things, but we’ll continue to support [Baldur’s Gate 3].

These “other things” most likely refer to the studio’s next big game – but there are no details about it yet.

The community has been patient with us, this is a very big game with a lot of variables. In Patch 4 we had this unexpected hook in the form of a crime system. So depending on how much of a thief your character was, there was a problem at the end of the game. And when the QA team goes through the game, they often just don’t do it, so it makes sense that you won’t see it.

The latest updates to Baldur’s Gate 3 have been impressive – Patch 5 added thousands of lines of dialogue, an expanded ending party, and the usual massive bug fixes (oh yeah, and genital physics). It looks like this pace of updates will continue into 2024. According to Vincke, even “small things” sometimes lead to big problems in a game as large as Baldur’s Gate 3, and Larian intends to “take control of them” in upcoming patches.

However, there has been no mention of DLC for Baldur’s Gate 3, although Vincke previously commented that the team “wants to do more” but in what form is unclear.
