“Rumor

It’s been happening more and more recently. So you spend your whole life buying one certain food that you cannot tolerate, and when one day you want to buy it again in the store, you simply find that it is no longer there. When you ask the saleswoman when she will refill it, you will learn that it will never happen again. The food is canceled without compensation and you are just out of luck.

A big loss

It seems that this process is currently encountered by a relatively large number of traditional Czech products. It is typical for them that they were produced only for the Czech Republic and had no potential anywhere else abroad. However, this is not lucrative enough for large international companies. They need to produce in large quantities, at least for the whole of Europe, but even better the whole world. Otherwise, it is simply not interesting for them to maintain a product.

Nowadays, this rationalization occurs considerably more than before. For example, sponge cakes, which you can still buy, are already produced somewhere in Poland and look and taste completely different. The same thing happened to Lentilkas, which were no longer produced in the Czech Republic and today they are just unified colored candies with chocolate.

This time, however, customers in the Czech Republic got a really big blow, especially pensioners who simply loved this confection. It is nothing less than Rum Pralines, which have practically cult status.

It will never be again

They just told me at the store that they won’t be anymore. At first I didn’t want to believe it, so I went to the second one, but they told me the same thing there. They then said on TV that the manufacturer had completely canceled them,” describes the woes of Mrs. Milena. “But I didn’t say anything else. Everything else seems artificial and too sweet. I liked the rum flavor here.

It is truly incredible how easily Nestlé canceled a product that had been produced under the Orion brand since 1965. It really survived a lot. And then after sixty years some foreign manager comes and announces that it is simply not worth continuing to produce it.

Customers are now worried whether a similar fate will befall other confectioneries, which are typical for the Czech market and are not sold elsewhere. On social media, tips are pouring in about what could happen next. For example, Margot, Ice Chestnuts, Kofila, Deli or Milena are said to be written off.
