On Sunday, December 17th, there will be a runoff election for the post of mayor in Ulm. The decision falls between incumbents Gunter Czisch and the SPD city councilor and lawyer Martin Ansbacher.

Official Gunter Czischwho is supported by the CDU and has been mayor for eight years, achieved 43 percent in the first round of voting. Martin Ansbacher achieved the second-best result in the election two weeks ago with 29 percent. The Green state chairwoman Lena Schwelling came to 20 percent. After the local electoral law in Baden-Württemberg was changed in the spring, Ulm is now the first large city in the country to hold a runoff election between the two candidates with the two best results. The decision will be made on Sunday between 60-year-old incumbent Gunter Czisch and the 48-year-old lawyer and city councilor Martin Ansbacher.
On Sunday, December 17th, the polling stations in Ulm will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The preliminary final result is expected between 7 and 7:30 p.m.
