To mark the end of the year, the police cracked down on drunk driving, and 51 people were caught in just two hours in the southern Gyeonggi region alone.
Although the police are increasing crackdowns and confiscating vehicles of habitual drunk drivers, accidents caused by drunk driving continue.

Last night, police officers blocked vehicles leaving the highway toll booth.
A crackdown on drunk driving began, and a man in his 40s was caught right away.
It was revealed that he drove 20km on the highway while drinking.

“0.111% is the license cancellation figure. The motive for drinking was a company dinner and the type of alcohol consumed was two bottles of soju…”
A man in his 50s who said he only drank half a bottle of soju during the day had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.074%.
License suspension figures have been released.

Another man in his 50s caught in a crackdown at an entertainment district.
The number of license cancellations came out, and when I asked why, they gave the excuse of being a designated driver.

51 drivers were caught in a two-hour crackdown in southern Gyeonggi Province, including Suwon and Anyang.
Half of them were drunk, with blood alcohol levels exceeding the level for license cancellation.

Despite police crackdowns, drunk driving accidents continue to occur.
Overnight, in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, a car driven by a drunk driver caused an accident while running away from a patrol car, injuring two police officers.
On the 13th, a father in his 30s who fell into a brain-dead state due to a hit-and-run accident caused by a soldier on leave in Cheongju while on leave died while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
