Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mekar Digital Sejahtera Cooperative (MDS Coop), Rini Soemarno reveal the reasons for supporting presidential candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). He wants a presidential candidate who has a clear vision regarding cooperatives.
“For me, we are MDS members, which now number more than 40 thousand throughout Indonesia. We certainly want to elect a leader who has a clear vision regarding cooperatives, regarding ultra-micro financing,” said Rini to journalists in the Cinangka Village area, Purwakarta, West Java, Saturday (16/12/2023).
He sees the Prabowo-Gibran Rakabuming Raka duo as a pair of candidates (paslon) who have an interest in cooperatives.
“What we see from the three candidates is that Mr Prabowo really emphasizes the vision and mission regarding cooperative and ultra micro finance programs,” he continued.
Furthermore, the former Minister of BUMN added that his party would ask all its members to support and vote for Prabowo-Gibran in 2024 presidential election.
“As the founder of the MDS cooperative, I want my members to elect him because we believe that if he leads, this country will be prosperous. That is the basis,” he added.
At the same location, Prabowo, who also serves as Chairman of the Village Unit Cooperative Main Board (Inkud), felt honored and moved after being appointed to the Honorary Board of the MDS Cooperative. Prabowo said he came from a cooperative family.
“I was appointed chairman of the honorary board of the Mekar Digital Sejahtera Cooperative which is chaired by Mrs. Rini Sumarno, former Minister of BUMN,” said Prabowo.
“So I am very moved because this is an honor for me. Because I come from a cooperative family, I am still at Inkud now,” he continued.
He said that Inkud and MDS Coop would also collaborate to empower the economy of communities that needed ultra-micro financing.
“So we are determined to work together to raise MDS together, later working together with Inkud to empower the weakest economies, those who need ultra micro finance. This is something that really makes an impression on my heart,” said Prabowo.
