2024 Election Rematch: Donald Trump Surging in Swing States, Polls Predict Setback for Joe Biden

HOUSTON ∙ Opinion polls in the US now seem to have left the Republican primary behind. They are busy preparing for the election rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. All the survey reports are predicting a big setback for Biden.

Republican front-runner Donald Trump is leading all of the key 2024 swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Democratic front-runner and US President Joe Biden is facing voter anger over the country’s inflation, according to a Bloomberg survey. Survey data from the last two rounds show that Joe Biden’s political problems come from within his own party. Former US President Trump is ahead of President Biden in Michigan as voters are less optimistic about the US economy, polls show. Trump trailed Biden in polls from Nov. 27 to Dec. 5, after being tied in similar polls in October and early November. Trump received the support of 46 percent. Biden, on the other hand, has the support of only 42 percent.

The former president is now leading monthly tracking polls in all seven swing states that will decide the 2024 presidential election. Biden’s decline in support is evident among Michigan’s suburban women and voters aged 18 to 34.

Losing Michigan is thought to set back Biden’s bid to retain the seat. In the 2020 victory, Biden defeated Trump by 154,188 votes in Michigan. In 2016, Trump won the state by a narrow margin of 10,704 votes. Michigan was crucial to him then, along with Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Inflation appears to be a major factor eroding Biden’s support among women. One of the reasons for this may be that, as heads of households, they see first-hand the rise in prices of essential commodities. Women, in general, are dissatisfied with the current state of the economy and the rising cost of daily necessities. This reflects the feeling that they are more affected by the economic impact, the survey said.
