The Council of State suspended the ministerial decrees for three travel bans for opposing supporters during the 16th day for the Le Havre-Nice, Lille-PSG and Lens-Reims matches.
New setback for the Ministry of the Interior. The national supporters’ association announced this Friday that the Council of State had suspended the travel ban orders for opposing supporters for three matches on the 16th day of Ligue 1, this weekend: Le Havre-Nice (Saturday , 5 p.m.), Lens-Reims (Saturday, 9 p.m.) and Lille-PSG (Sunday, 8:45 p.m.).
Third setback in a week for the Interior Ministry
Supporters from Nice, Paris and Reims will therefore be able to go to Le Havre, Lille and Lens respectively this weekend. Two other matches are affected by bans on opposing supporters: Nantes-Brest (Sunday, 1 p.m.) and Toulouse-Rennes (Sunday, 3 p.m.). But they were not the subject of an appeal by the ANS which nevertheless denounced that “the decisions applicable to Rennes and Brest supporters are illegal”.
This decision by the Council of State is the third major failure in a week for the French authorities who have decided to request systematic travel bans for opposing supporters until December 18, after the death of a Nantes fan on December 2 in margin of a match against Nice.
Daniel Riolo’s opinion: “Everyone is turning a blind eye to the subject of fan travel” – 11/12
At the weekend, the Ministry of the Interior issued eight banning orders for the 15th day of L1 and the 8th round of the Coupe de France. But four of them were ultimately suspended (Montpellier-Lens, Nice-Reims, Angoulême-Bordeaux and Saint-Méziéry-Auxerre). On Tuesday, the Council of State also put the ministry in check by authorizing fans of Sevilla FC to attend their team’s meeting in Lens in the Champions League, just a few hours before kick-off.
