Reporter: Let me tell you that just a few moments ago there was a joint statement from the mayor of the city along with the commissioner of the Department of Buildings. They announced the suspension of an engineer who failed to provide a close diagnosis. and precise about structural failures in a column as well as in walls of this same building, which partially collapsed on Monday. They do not mention the name of the engineer, but he affirms that they hope that the suspension made to him is permanent and that all the inspections under his charge will be reviewed. It is one of the most of 170 tenants affected by the partial collapse of their building in the bronx. They can go to a temporary shelter, but they don’t want to. What do they plan to do?>> I don’t know. I’m going to see what happens. Maybe they’ll fix it. Reporter: She tells us that her husband is looking for an apartment for her to rent, but like neighbors they don’t know what to do. I have a friend who, if I had a place to take her, I would do it. Reporter: Organizations agencies city and private donors to help the victims.>> we have worked to extend the hotels.department more or less private.each situation is different and we are here to help the families.reporter: in the old 96-year-old building the removal of rubble is progressing.this exposes the lack of inspection of services in the city. There are more than 1 million buildings in New York and only 500 inspectors. The system showed the cracks.
