Irritated by the initial work situation in football Santospresident-elect Marcelo Teixeira decided to lead the search for a new coach for the club in 2024. With relegation to Series B, Peixe has been facing difficulties in announcing a coach who accepts the current conditions.

The board tried to hire Carpini, who was successful, but backed down due to the Santos board’s indecision in forming the technical committee. Santos made a direct proposal to Fábio Carille, who refused, claiming to be committed to V-Varen Nagasaki, from Japan, for 2024.

Fernando Silva, on Santos’ professional football transition committee, gave up on Carille and sought contact with Léo Condé. However, executive Alexandre Gallo vetoed the option.

This Friday (15), Marcelo Teixeira then took charge of the situation, called Carille, offered a two-year contract, a medium to long-term project, and highlighted his importance for the club’s reconstruction.

After the conversation, Carille signaled positively for Santos to negotiate its fine with the Japanese club, which is now the main impasse – worth 1.5 million dollars (R$ 7.3 million).

Santos is considering paying the fine in installments and the coach’s agent, Paulo Pitombeira, will try to help the new directors in an attempt to negotiate with the Japanese club.
