Seven-year-old William Ellis was hit and killed on Wednesday 13 December in the town of Balranald in New South Wales.

The boy received medical attention at the scene before being taken to hospital. However, life was not to be saved.
A 43-year-old man has been arrested following the accident. The police will not comment on the tragedy at this time.

An entire community is in mourning after the little boy’s death. Several people are now paying tribute to the seven-year-old on social media, describing him as a “warm and loving soul”.
– You will always be remembered as an extraordinary boy who always radiated joy, writes a friend of the family on a memorial page.
William is survived by five siblings, his father Shaun – and his mother, Kylie Reid. In the wake of the fatal accident, she has spoken to several Australian media.
– William was a golden boy. He always put his arms around me and said he loved me, says Reid to the News.

The last year has been difficult for the Australian family. Mamma Reid has been fighting breast cancer for a long time and has been very ill.
According to the News, William was brave and a good supporter of his mother.
– He comforted me the whole time, she tells the newspaper.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by mum Reid’s colleague, Sheri Hammet, in memory of William. The money will go towards funerals and other necessary funding during the difficult times.
“Kylie has already had a very challenging year with breast cancer. She has fought bravely and shown enormous strength and resilience. Now she needs our help and support more than ever,” the splice reads, among other things.
At the time of writing, the kroner roll has collected over NOK 400,000.
Hammet writes that William melted many hearts, and now encourages the local community to ring the family in mourning.
“William’s memory will live on, and your contribution will help ease the burden of the family’s loss and other challenges,” it says.
The cause of the fatal accident is currently unknown.
