- American DIYers transformed the Tesla Model S Plaid into a completely different car
- The car that ran the quarter mile in 8.71 seconds in August is now a twenty-year-old Honda Odyssey
- The power remained, but the curves changed considerably
When the Tesla Model S Plaid is mentioned, most electromobility enthusiasts probably imagine the graceful curves of the American manufacturer’s flagship sedan. The YouTube channel BoostedBoiz recently reported that creative hands can be found not only in the heart of Europe, but also across the sea, on which a surprising project called Plaidessey appeared.
When we reveal that it’s a cross between the Tesla Model S Plaid and the 2001 Honda Odyssey MPV, the special designation starts to make sense. If you remembered the animated series Kočkopes, you are not far from reality. The creators really combined two seemingly incompatible cars and created a spacious family MPV from a fast electric car. Basically, the adventurers managed to hide the frame and drivetrain of the Tesla inside the large body of the Honda. Surprisingly, in some ways the replacement didn’t require that much of a major adjustment. The body of the Tesla surprisingly fit into the body of the Honda. The biggest problem was the B pillar, the unsatisfactory position of which was solved by removing the Tesla windshield.
If you’re wondering why someone thought of destroying a Tesla Model S to convert it to a Honda, it’s worth mentioning that this particular example of an electric car already had an eventful history behind it. When breaking quarter-mile records, it had already been stripped of everything unnecessary and only a light aluminum shell was used for racing purposes. With this method of racing, however, there is no need to turn the steering wheel, so the shock absorbers in the lowest setting position remained stuck. In order for the disfigured Tesla to get back on the road again, it was necessary to call in more experts from the Electrified Garage team to repair it.
Now the Honda in disguise may even surpass the Cybertruck itself. After all, the specification of a fast and spacious electric car was fulfilled here. Driving a car like this on the streets can be fun just thinking about the looks on other drivers when a 20-year-old Honda accelerates in the style of the sharpest Tesla. But with security in a similar Frankenstein, it will be worse. Anyway, the creativity and technical prowess of the creators of the BoostedBoiz channel cannot be denied.
