The court in The Hague has imposed TBS with compulsory treatment on a 33-year-old woman from Ukraine who threw her sixteen-day-old son out of the window. The baby died of severe brain damage.
The incident happened on February 24 this year at a reception location for Ukrainian refugees on Parallelweg in The Hague. The woman threw her son down from the second floor. He was initially seriously injured, but died after two weeks.
The woman previously stated that a voice in her head told her to kill her baby. Behavioral experts say that the woman is completely incompetent. She suffers from depression with psychotic features.
The court finds the woman guilty of manslaughter, but does not impose a prison sentence on her. According to the court, the manslaughter cannot be attributed to her because she listened to the voice that ordered her to kill the baby.
The woman will be sentenced to TBS. According to the court, the risk of recurrence is high and the woman requires long-term treatment.
The court’s ruling is the same as the Public Prosecution Service’s demand.
