Botafogo Refuses to Pay €8 Million for João Victor Transfer, Eagles Ask for Loan

Cariocas only interested in the loan, eagles ask for €8 million

Botafogo is moving away from João Victor. According to Globoesporte, from Brazil, the Rio club only wants the loan and is not interested in paying €8 million for the 25-year-old defender’s transfer, an amount that, according to local media, the Eagles are asking for.

The relationship between the two clubs is good, following the process of granting the pass to midfielder Gabriel (champion with the Eagles in 2019), but what is at stake are opposing intentions. Internacional is another interested party.

João Victor’s immediate future must involve leaving the team when the market reopens. He was even tested as a right-back in pre-season, but he didn’t convince Roger Schmidt and as a central defender he doesn’t count either, having only recorded a total of 27 minutes spread over two games this season.

Remember that Benfica paid €9.4 million to Corinthians for 80 percent of the player’s transfer in the 2022 summer market.
