Liverpool’s Reserve-Heavy Team Loses to Belgium’s Union SG in Europa League Match

A reserve-heavy Liverpool lost to Belgium’s Union SG.

The home team won 2–1.

– A well-deserved victory for Union SG, says Jürgen Klopp.

20-year-old talent Jarell Quansah got his first first-team goal for Liverpool but it didn’t yield any points in Thursday night’s away game in the Europa League.

After Quansah’s equaliser, Cameron Puertas decided in Union SG’s favor at the end of the first half.

– Everyone saw the same match, a well-deserved victory for Union SG. The first goal was maybe offside but we couldn’t really see and who cares? It’s a good team that leads their league. We played an okay match, says Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp after the match according to Liverpool Echo.

One in the group

Liverpool were already clear group winners but the loss could have had consequences for Toulouse, who finished second in Europa League Group E.

But the French team also did the job and defeated Lask Linz, which means that Union SG will have to settle for third place and play in the Europa Conference League, despite the victory against Liverpool.
