Five months after launching in the US, Meta’s Threads app is finally available in Europe. The social network is reportedly usable on the web, but Europeans may have trouble accessing the Threads mobile app on iOS and Android devices.
Site “Threads.net” is now active in Europe, but the Threads mobile app is still not available to many. If it does manage to access it, the user is offered two options – to create an account using an Instagram profile, or to use Threads without a created profile. The second option allows you to view the content posted in Threads, but the user will not be able to post anything himself or respond to other users’ posts.
I managed to install Threads on my iPhone and created an account using my Instagram profile. Well, there will be one more social network.
It should be reminded that the launch of “Threads” in Europe was delayed by the upcoming Digital Services Act of the European Union, which will officially enter into force in the first half of 2024. The law requires Meta and some other tech giants to comply with broad laws that hold online platforms legally responsible for the content they post.
