The United Kingdom will no longer allow in people it holds responsible for settler violence against Palestinians in Israeli-occupied territories. British Foreign Minister David Cameron reported this on Thursday.
Cameron calls on Israel to do more against “extremist settlers”. The United States announced a similar ban earlier this month.
The US, among others, has regularly called on Israel to take action against the violence committed by Israeli settlers against Palestinians. This violence takes place in the West Bank and other areas that Israel has occupied since 1967.
Violence has increased since the Hamas attack on October 7. The Israeli army also carries out more frequent actions in the area.
The Jewish settlers live in settlements that are illegal under international law. The settlers often have a foreign passport. For example, many British and Americans have settled in the colonies.
According to UN figures, before October 7 there was an average of three settler attacks on Palestinians per day. This then increased to an average of seven attacks per day.
