Germany Allocates 8 Billion Euros for Military Aid to Ukraine, Considers State of Emergency: Chancellor Scholz

The German government plans to allocate 8 billion euros for military aid to Ukraine next year, but will probably declare a state of emergency in the country, reports dialog.ua.

If the situation caused by the war in Ukraine worsens, the German government can declare a state of emergency in the country – this is what German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said while speaking in the Bundestag.

He warned of the negative consequences of ending allied support for Ukraine in its resistance to Russian aggression.

According to the chancellor, Putin is counting on the weakening of international aid to Kyiv, and there is a threat that the Russian president’s plans may come true. Scholz noted that US President Joe Biden is fighting in his country to support Ukraine, while the EU cannot agree on giving it 50 billion euros of aid over the next 4 years.

The chancellor also said that this year the second Patriot air defense system, which Germany handed over to Ukraine, will go on combat duty. In addition, after intense negotiations on next year’s federal budget, it included an article for military aid to Kyiv of 8 billion euros.
